Norfolk Yoga Retreat

Norfolk has always offered me ‘space’. All my life I have been coming to this part of the coast for my holidays – first as a child with my parents, then with my three children when I was living in France and China. Now it’s my turn to share this beautiful, wild, freeing space with others.

Finding Space means something different to every one of my guests. I know because I always ask that question at my retreat opening. For some guests, it means finding headspace, for others space to reflect, for some space to stretch the body and release pent-up tension, and yet others are looking to find space in the lungs and improve their shallow breathing habits.

I created these Norfolk yoga retreats to hold space for my guests, so that each guest can find the space they need, in the way that suits them.

Stress-Management-Retreat

Mind

Learning to manage your mind is a lifelong pursuit and one that is greatly assisted by yoga. Guests learn other tools to help quieten over-busy minds, finding space for curiosity, creativity & calm.

Stress Managment

Body

Gentle hatha yoga is used on the first two days to find space in the body & release pent-up tension; on Sunday morning, more dynamism & flow is introduced into the yoga session.

Stress-Reduction-Breathwork

Breath

In the Breath Better, Stress Less workshop guests explore how to identify & retrain poor breathing habits. Efficient breathing is a major component of good health and contributes to managing stress, emotions & sleep.

Food

Gathering around a table to share food, ideas and friendship forms a core part of the retreat. Locally sourced ingredients are freshly prepared into healthy vegetarian-friendly dishes and shared around Bridget’s vibrant table.

Nature

The retreat is a time to reconnect to nature with wetland & beach walks, breathing sessions by the tidal creek, optional walking meditations in silence as well as meals around the picnic table or fire pit.

Mind Body Breath

The Finding Space retreat

On the Norfolk yoga retreats, guests enjoy freshly prepared food made with the choicest local ingredients. Mealtimes provide an opportunity for communal sharing and creating deeper connections.

Bridget’s tastes and cuisine have been shaped by a life of travel, and she takes great pleasure in hosting guests around her vibrant, colourful table. All the food is vegetarian friendly and Bridget often caters to vegan guests as well.

What Guests Are Saying About Our Norfolk Yoga Retreats

“This was a very welcoming retreat, which combined yoga, practising stillness and silence, enjoying good food and spending lots of time outdoors. Bridget was very good at looking after her guests. I felt very nurtured in lots of different ways, not least by the amazing food. This is a small retreat, and to my mind all the better for it. Bridget is very receptive to exchanging ideas and thoughts, and it was great to have the space to think, reflect and take stock.”

KathrynProfessional Support Lawyer

“I absolutely loved my mini retreat away in Heacham, Norfolk. 48 hours to focus on breathing, walking in nature and of course yoga! It’s been nearly two years since I retreated and so long overdue. Just having some space to “BE” for a bit, being nurtured through amazing food in someone’s home, connecting with other women (typically two NHS workers), holding space for one another, reconnecting with ourselves and road-mapping our futures together was wonderful. I’ve known for a while that I’m on the right path, but it’s always good to remind myself of that! So when life becomes overwhelming, just remember to stop. And breathe.”

LiannaMid-wife

“Having never done a yoga retreat wasn't sure what to expect but this was certainly a 'good' experience. Learnt a lot....particularly about 'breathing' and given me a way forward with breathing more effectively. Also the yoga instructions taught me things I certainly had learnt before and given me the 'determination' to do regular practice. The nature and walking side was also such a bonus and made the weekend even more rounded. The food was also really really good. Bridget is a lovely warm person and her home is very welcoming. Being such a small retreat was also a real bonus and particularly in these times I felt comfortable and 'safe'.”

NicolaIT consultant

“I was very nervous as this was my first time ever on a solo break. Bridget was so welcoming, as soon as I walked in her home, I felt at home. The yoga sessions were very informative & also designed for the individual. The homemade food was hearty, healthy & filling, and with food allergies, nothing was a struggle for Bridget. The bedroom I had was amazing! Very comfy. I loved being able to sit & read on the sofa next to the window. Heacham is a beautiful village & the beach is very large & peaceful.”

“A truly nourishing and restorative time for body and mind at this yoga retreat. Wonderfully wholesome meals interspersed between yoga sessions in a picturesque Norfolk village with coastal rambles, cosy fires and Bridget's beautiful grounding company and guidance.”

“I have just returned from my New Year’s retreat with Bridget. This is my second retreat with her, I came to the Finding Space retreat in Nov ‘20. After every visit, I leave feeling re-energised. Bridget has an incredible capacity to make you feel welcome in her home through her nourishing food, involving you in her kitchen or listening to what you want to share. The yoga and breath work has given me a new year boost. The beach is close by, walking and cycling along the sea wall was divine. Bridget…you are an inspiration and thank you.”

“I have just returned after a wonderful weekend of yoga, nature, and breath work with Bridget and highly recommend her retreat for anyone looking to realign themselves and meet lovely people at the same time. I learned so much from my experience and look forward to integrating everything into my day-to-day life. I definitely hope to return!”

“A wonderfully nurturing weekend! My mum and I were drawn to Bridget’s peaceful place on the Norfolk coast and loved every moment of the experience. We both learnt so much from Bridget’s kind and knowledgable way of teaching. It really deepened my understanding of breath work and got me in touch with areas of my body that have been laying dormant for a while. I specifically loved the homely, welcoming, inclusive feel of the retreat ~ I was at ease straight away. I would recommend this retreat to anyone ~ all levels of experience too! The combination of tailored Yoga, breath work learning, nature (a lovely afternoon enjoyed on the beach) and delicious home cooked food make it a very unique and magical space. Thank you Bridget and hopefully see you soon :)”

“From the moment that Bridget opened the door with a beaming smile, I felt safe and in good hands.
The yoga classes were exactly what I needed and the breathing classes were new to me and I found them very useful.
The retreat is in a lovely quiet part of the country and the peace and quiet was refreshing.”

“The overall peace and harmony of the experience and coming away feeling recharged and inspired to try new things. I most certainly found the space I was looking for. The yoga and breathing technique sessions were both relaxing and educational - I'll definitely be practising what I learnt. The time spent outside - whether walking around the pretty village, along the exhilarating expanse of beach or through the cool pine forest of Sandringham, offered a perfect balance of environments to contemplate, find peace and feel energised. The cottage was homely with a peaceful ambience and Bridget and her guest were welcoming, inspiring (I have ideas of books to read and recipes to make!) and an overall joy to spend time with. A very positive experience for a first-time retreat.”

“Lovely informative yoga and breathwork "Finding Space" retreat in friendly, cosy surroundings next to the Sea. Bridget was able to teach us lots of new skills in short time and we had lots of fun along the way . Bridget taught us new practical breathwork skills to take home and incorporate into everyday life that are actually doable. Bridget is a great host and very knowledgeable in her field of breathwork . Hope you will consider doing a winter retreat in warm climes Bridget! I would definitely come along.”

JosieGP practice nurse

“I learned from each session in different ways. The location by the coast and in a beautiful village was perfect. Walking on the beach was very relaxing and Bridget has made her house into a little haven of peace. A much-valued chance to unwind, be relaxed and introspective.”

TonyRetired Energy Engineer

“I attended this retreat with my friend and we shared a room which was a giggle and a bit like being in a dorm as Bridget pointed out! Recently bereaved, this was such an excellent place to be for me, Bridget is a warm and fascinating host. Yoga was great and a silent walk on the beach was just amazing - the Norfolk space takes some beating. Really enjoyed the Saturday evening sitting at the dinner table after another excellent home cooked meal, the tree of life, sharing our experiences and hopes and ideas for the future as well as appreciating the now of course! A lot was gained from the weekend, fun and laughter, new ideas and things to consider. Would recommend!”

Diana & HelenTwo nurse friends

“While the host and the food were exemplary, the real take away from the weekend was the feeling of calm and new found control. Bridget with subtle inputs, encourages you to find your own space mentally, even without thinking about it. The breathing workshop adds further to the feeling of self confidence and empowerment, providing many tools to set you on the path to achieve that inner peace we all look for.”

“I liked being in a small group and being able to get to know everyone. I liked the flexibility. I liked the balance between structure and free time. I liked the relaxed evenings in front of the fire. The food was fabulous. We would definitely go again.”

AnnieOccupational Therapist & Councillor

“I booked this trip using my company's wellness budget. It was a fantastic way to take advantage of this allowance and Bridget was able to accommodate with an agenda that met their requirements both in practice and on paper. Staying with Bridget felt like the perfect mix of taking three days of yoga classes while staying with an old friend. (with a splash of a fun quirky aunt thrown in too) I enjoyed the yoga, the schedule and the other activities. Bridget went out of her way to accommodate and entertain me and it was greatly appreciated. Walks on the beach, mindfullness and exploring space. I definitely recommend and I expect I will attend a future retreat as well.”

NoahProgrammer

“Had the most wonderful retreat with Bridget. I cannot recommend the retreat enough. If you want to get some headspace, yoga, cycling around Heacham and some delicious food, no need to look any further. Thank you Bridget for a wonderful weekend.”

SamClinic Director

“From the off Bridget made me feel welcome and relaxed. Delicious home cooked food prepared with love, a beautiful house in a wonderful setting, and well-structured days allowing for interaction with the group and tutor but making space to find time for myself and reflect and absorb what I had learnt. The breath work and yoga classes are tailored, helping me discover more about myself and taught me methods to progress my practise. I have come away from the retreat armed with new skills, a refreshed mind and body, and having made amazing connections (also with loads of new recipes to try!). Bridget is a goddess and I highly recommend her retreats to anyone, whatever level of yoga.”

ClareMarketing manager

“Bridget is such a welcoming host. The food was absolutely amazing and her home has such a beautiful energy - so calm and quiet. Through chatting, breath-work and yoga Bridget helped me to see patterns in myself that I hadn't noticed were holding me back. Now, with this awareness in mind, I can work on letting these go and move forward in my life. The weather was absolutely beautiful and we spent quality time on the beach walking and being mindful. We had such a lovely intimate group and the support from Bridget meant that I'm sure we will all be life-long friends - we arrived strangers and left with such beautiful connections to each other. Thank you Bridget.”

Frequently Asked Questions

When do you run this Norfolk Yoga Retreat?

This Norfolk yoga retreat is usually a weekend retreat. Check-in is at 5pm on Friday evening and all the learning part of the retreat is completed by 1pm on the Sunday. You can download the full Norfolk Yoga Retreats program here.

However, if you’d like to book the whole house for a group of three or four people, I’m happy to organise a mid-week retreat especially for you. Contact me with your required dates and I’ll be happy to discuss welcoming you during the week.

Why is this Norfolk yoga retreat called Finding Space?

Norfolk has always offered me ‘space’. All my life I have been coming to this part of the coast for my holidays – first as a child with my parents, then with my three children when I was living in France and China. Now it’s my turn to share this beautiful, wild, freeing space with others through my Norfolk Yoga Retreats.

Finding Space means something different to every one of my guests. I know because I always ask that question at my retreat opening ceremony. For some guests, it means finding headspace, for others space to reflect, for some space to stretch the body and release pent-up tension, and yet others are looking to find space in the lungs and improve their shallow breathing habits.

My role is to hold space so that each guest can find the space they need, in the way they need on a Norfolk Yoga Retreat.

What is the level of yoga?

I have welcomed complete yoga beginners to teachers-in-training – and every level in between. Because the retreats only have between two and four guests, it’s quite easy to give every guest the attention they need.

Anyone – with any yoga level – is welcome to come on any of the Norfolk Yoga Retreats.

What do I need to pack for the Norfolk yoga retreats?

Once you’ve reserved your place one of the Norfolk yoga retreats, I’ll send you some Joining Instructions with a full packing list. I ask everyone to bring their own yoga mat – all the other yoga equipment such as bolsters, blankets, blocks etc are provided.

Do you cater for special dietary needs on your Norfolk yoga retreats?

I cook everything from scratch and ask every guest to fill in a Guest Information Sheet so I know about their allergies or special dietary needs.

If you are not sure – please contact me and let me know your special needs and I’ll be happy to discuss how I can accommodate you on my Norfolk Yoga Retreats.

What makes Bridget different from other yoga or breath coaches?

I came from a career in the language industry where I lived through some very stressful situations. I’m more likely to call myself a business woman than a yoga teacher. I wanted and to share a wellness skillset I had been developing for my own needs during my career and to move from working with documents to working with people. My Norfolk Yoga Retreats draw on all my skill sets, including hosting & feeding people!

Watch Bridget tell you about her retreats here.

What certifications does Bridget hold?

As well as doing two certificate courses in yoga (200 hr Yoga Teacher Training Course + 50 hr Yoga for Kids Training Course) and I’m currently completing a 200 hr Yin Yoga course. I hold a stress certified course in meditation with the British Mindfulness Institute and I’m a certified Positive Neuroplasticity Coach. I will graduated with a diploma in Life Coaching with Breathwork on an approved IFC in September 2023. Furthermore, I’m registered with CIMPSA in the UK and insured by UK Coaching.

What about Covid? What safety measures do you have in place for my stay?

I started organising my Norfolk Yoga Retreats in the year of lockdown and although lockdown has now lifted I have kept in place some of the recommended Covid precautions. The house is open plan downstairs and I keep it well ventilated. The yoga room has a door and we practice with the window slightly open or we practice outside in the garden.

What is your payment policy and do you give refunds in relation to cancellations due to Covid?

Payment is £250 per room at the time of booking and the remainder one month before arrival. If you have to cancel due to Covid, you are invited to rebook on another date. If that is not possible, payment is fully reimbursed.

Can I get an official receipt to help with reimbursement from my organisation?

I can provide an invoice for any of my Norfolk Yoga Retreats if you need to submit one to your organisation’s training or wellbeing budget. Let me know while you’re making your booking and I’ll email you an invoice.
